You were fighting the Vanguard Demon when it had killed you. Your soul passes on and you wake up in the Nexus, you’re brought back by the Maiden in black who looks down at you as she fixes your soul to the nexus.

“Soul of the lost, withdrawn from its vessel. Let strength be granted so the world might be mended.”

She chants before you rise, your soul form virtually the same as your living form yet you glow.
