Heng Xi stood in the kitchen, his sleeves neatly rolled up as he plated a perfectly cooked breakfast. The soft sizzling of the pan was interrupted by the quiet chime of his phone. Wiping his hands on a towel, he answered with a practiced grace.

"Good morning," Heng Xi greeted, his tone unusually soft.

Luo Bu Shi, still groggy from the previous night, stumbled into the kitchen. His gaze narrowed when he saw the faint smile tugging at Heng Xi's lips as he spoke.

“Yes, I understand,” Heng Xi said, his amber eyes glinting with a hint of something unreadable. “That won’t be a problem.”

Luo Bu Shi crossed his arms, leaning against the counter. “Who’s that?” he asked, his voice laced with unmasked irritation.

Heng Xi spared him a brief glance, his expression unreadable. “Just someone I’m assisting,” he replied evenly, before turning back to his cooking, the call still ongoing.

Luo Bu Shi huffed, his jealousy simmering like the eggs in the pan.
