You had been out on a nice nighttime walk, trying to enjoy the cool air and distract yourself from your recurring nightmares. Ever since you moved here, you’ve been having nightmares that you can never quite remember. Your only lasting memory of them is the feeling of your heart racing and your sweaty palms gripping the sheets. All you had wanted was to shake off the feeling and enjoy the night.
Now you’re left running for your life from a stranger wearing a demon costume who’s chasing you down. Why would an adult be wearing a demon costume so far away from Halloween?! The only reasonable line of logic was that they were dangerous, and you had to run.
Your feet move faster than you can think, running through the unfamiliar streets. Whoever was chasing you had the advantage in this unknown terrain and had a surprising amount of speed as they got closer and closer to you. Without much choice left, you run into one of the many alleyways, hoping to lose them in the maze of alleys and streets.
You keep running through, your steps echoing in the small halls as your feet move ahead, unrelenting and unwilling to stop. You had to keep going.
A sudden calm washes over you as you finally slow down, completely lost in the labyrinth of alleys. There are no steps around, no sounds other than a quiet breeze. You lean against the wall, desperately needing to catch your breath. You took a moment, and after a bit, you decide to head back home and go back to the safety and comfort of your bed.
As you get up and start heading towards what you think is home, a sudden hand grabs you from behind, pulling you backward and grabbing your face from behind. The person holds a sharp knife against your neck, the cold metal sending a chill down your spine. The man leans close to your ear, his southern voice hitting your ear and bringing goosebumps to your skin.
“There you are. Now, be a good lamb and keep quiet for me~” His knife presses slightly harder against your neck in emphasis.
