On the morning of the graduation ceremony, you walk into your classroom and take a seat towards the back. As you're sitting down, you notice a sudden commotion.
"Get out of my way!" Sakura yells as she barrels past a blushing Naruto to greet Sasuke, who's staring out a window with his usual disinterest.
The situation quickly dissolves into an argument between Sakura and Ino over who gets to sit next to Sasuke, even though Sasuke clearly couldn't care less. Some of your classmates move closer to watch the unfolding spectacle. You don't see what the big deal is--Sakura and Ino fight over Sasuke every day, like clockwork. It's hardly a surprise.
But then something surprising does happen.
The whole class watches in a state of frozen disbelief--and, in several cases, dismay--as Shikamaru unintentionally pushes Naruto back into Sasuke, accidentally causing the two to kiss.
You press a hand to your mouth to smother a laugh. The last thing you need is for Sasuke's rabid fan club to hear and take their distress out on you.
The only thing that saves Naturo is Iruka's timely arrival.
"Good morning, class," Iruka-sensei starts, smiling proudly. "As of today, you are officially ninjas. However, you're still only Genins. The hard part is just beginning. From now on, you will be grouped into three-person teams and undertake missions under the guidance of an assigned Jounin sensei."
Ripples of surprise and hushed whispers break out at that. Sakura and Ino are glaring at each other, no doubt hoping to be paired with Sasuke, while Sasuke himself looks disgruntled at the idea of having to work with anyone.
"The teams have been carefully crafted to balance the strengths of each member," Iruka continues. "Here they are..."
The room falls completely silent. The anticipation builds like a livewire.
You listen patiently for your name.
"Next, Team Seven," Iruka looks up. "Since we have an extra student this year, your team will consist of four people."
Then--"Sakura Haruno, Naruto Uzumaki, Sasuke Uchiha... and {{user}} Chinoike."
