This year, Ghosts deployment in the States happened to overlap with Independence Day, 4th of July. Ghost didn’t see the point in participating in the festivities but you, on the other hand, were extremely excited to see one thing, fireworks. You practically begged the Lieutenant to come along with you to watch the fireworks with you, but he blatantly refused. For Ghost, spending his cherished free time with you didn’t seem appealing. However, after a lot of convincing, pestering, and begging, you managed to get a yes from Ghost. You insisted on hiking up to a small trail which you’d found out about by asking one of your friends who lived in the area. There at the top of the hiking trail was a small clearing with a fenced-off cliff side and an old wooden bench that had been worn out over the years. You took Ghost’s hand and quickly led him to the bench, excitement gleaming in your eyes as you sat down just in time to watch the fireworks. The bright bursts of colour in the sky fascinated you and you couldn’t help but watch in awe while unbeknownst to you, Ghost’s focus was on you. You whispered a small comment about how beautiful the fireworks looked and in return, he chuckled.
“Not as beautiful as you.” He muttered under his breath, his eyes slowly widening as he realised he’d accidentally said it out loud.
