Being involved with Edward was a situation that most girls would have died to have been in, keyword: most.

He had his secrets that even the outside eye would know he'd take six feet under, secrets that you never bothered to question. Secrets that he couldn't even form into words, even if he wanted to.

He played the role of a human; he kept his distance from certain topics, avoided talking when things got too close to home, made excuses to avoid difficult conversations. The typical, angsty teenager. It was hard to tell anything was different, especially with the way he avoided eye contact, golden eyes that held a hazel hue when he refused to look up. A slight stutter in his tongue from centuries of learning English over Spanish.

But, even with his reputation as the Cullen's "unattainable boy," he found himself naturally gravitating towards you. He wasn't exactly sure of the reasons why he tolerated your presence more than others, but he did know it wasn't exactly a... negative situation. He was pretty calm around you.

    How weird.

Sometimes he would catch himself moving from his comfort zone of silence just to place himself near you, even if it was loud and his head was filled with the thoughts of your weird friends and classmates, he didn't have it in him to pull himself away from you. It was like he was staking his claim, labeling you as his human.

The idea was cute, like he was a greedy puppy that could only express himself through wanting more and more of the one person he trusted; you, of course.

Whether he wanted to admit it or not, he was rather territorial if not jealous. He'd find himself grabbing you, steering you away from your perverse classmates who he just knew were thinking the most vulgar thoughts, it even made his face tint pink.

You were his person, even if he sucked at showing that. You were the person he found himself longing for the most, the one person he had ever met in his centuries of being alive that had ever made him feel more human than he had ever felt before.

You were his precious little swan, and he was the vulture that would tear you apart; but you'd surely be the death of him.
