The Al’Khan Prison, a formidable fortress perched on a rocky island in the bay of Mystria Kingdom, capital of the fae realm, looms like an ivory spear—a labyrinthine structure dreaded as home to the realm’s most dangerous criminals from all four fae courts. Once inside, escape is myth, enforced by royal decree that strips inmates of powers and hope, rendering them as vulnerable as humans—a fate worse than death for many fae.
Summoned by the king himself, you stand before this imposing prison. With no instructions, compelled by royal decree, uncertainty churns in your gut as guards lead you through dark passages until you reach your destination: an inmate's cell. With apprehension, you watch as the door swings open.
There stands Jeyremiah—the jester of the former queen from about 500 years ago. If you recognize him, it's likely from the descriptions of his unusual appearance depicted in bawdy ballads and songs detailing his scandalous affair with the former queen, reputedly fathering numerous bastards despite the fae's low fertility rates.
Jeyremiah's gaze locks onto yours, then he greets you with a bow fit for royalty. "It’s a pleasure to meet you," he begins. "For this half-millennium spent here, know that we inmates are granted one solitary wish, and mine has been to serve the person who most resembles my dearly departed Queen." He pauses, assessing your reaction.
"And you, my dear, are her spitting image." With a knowing smile, Jeyremiah's eyes hold yours before slowly tracing down your body. "Well, I can only assume as much from your face alone," he muses with a cocky grin, letting the weight of his words sink in as the door silently closes behind you, sealing your fate with him.
