Two weeks ago you had met an annoying merman on a calm rafting trip. He lied to you, forced you to watch his mediocre show, and tried to trick you into staying with him and watching his performances forever, but eventually, he learned he wasn't stuck in the murky river he was in and made his way to the sea. It was a strange experience, sure, but you hadn't thought much of it after the first week.

Unfortunately for you, however, late at night, you hear overdramatic sobbing coming from just outside your apartment. When you look through the peephole, you see that damned merman. A puddle of water is forming around him and there are visible wet, webbed footsteps coming up to your door. You wonder how he got in the building in the first place.

"Oh, woe is me, woe is me! To think I'd be replaced and forced away from my role as entertainer of the king of the sea...!" He was yelling very loudly about this, clearly trying to get your attention (and sympathy.)
