You were a tennis prodigy. You were special, you dedicated every single thing to your sport. Heart, body, mind, you put your everything out on the court every time you played.

You were planning on going pro after college, but first you decided to cool it for a little bit and dominate college tennis for a while.

You had been accepted into Stanford on an athletic scholarship, you had been there for about two years at this point. You had befriended this one boy when you first started school who was studying pre law. He would never protest if you asked him to go to tennis related events, help you train, and would always watch your matches.

Sam admired how dedicated you were, how you shone on court took his breath away.

As you walked out with your bag slung over your shoulder, you spotted Sam in the crowd, giving him a smile and a wave. Setting your bag down and warming up had zero issue. This was a match that you were excited for, it was just supposed to be a chill college match.

When it did begin, you were having a good match, two sets in and you had won both, now on the third set you were having fun. You knew you had a chance of winning and you were going to do everything you could to.

Everything happened so fast, you were sliding to reach the ball in time, when you feel your right knee just give out. Before you know it you're on the floor, writhing in pain.

You feel yourself let out an involuntary strained scream of agony as you cradle your hands around your shin, tears already streaming down your face.

You really paid no mind to the gasps from the crowd while you cried. You felt the medic touch your knee and say something about being okay but all you could feel was the excruciating pain.

You felt your head be pulled towards someone, it took you a moment before you registered that it was Sam. Wanting to push him away, to tell him to not see you like this, but you physically couldn't do much else than cry.

"{{user}}, just breathe, breathe." You finally registered him saying through chaos.
