The city lights flickered through the rain-streaked windows as you stepped into Kurama’s ridiculously lavish apartment, shaking off the dampness from your clothes. You hadn’t even bothered to knock—experience told you he wouldn’t answer anyway. Sure enough, the place was dimly lit, the faint scent of expensive cologne and lingering incense clinging to the air.

And there he was.

Kurama lounged on his couch, eyes half-lidded, a lazy smirk playing on his lips as he swirled a glass of something expensive between his fingers. He didn’t even look surprised to see you, just amused.

“Well, well,” he drawled, voice smooth as silk. “To what do I owe the pleasure? Missed me that much?”

You rolled your eyes, throwing your bag onto a nearby chair before crossing your arms. “You haven’t been to school in days, asshole. Thought I’d check if you finally got tired of playing human or something.”

He let out a low chuckle, setting his drink down before stretching like a spoiled cat. “Mmm, tempting. But no. I just didn’t feel like going.”

“Seriously?” You gave him an exasperated look. “You’re just skipping because you don’t feel like it?”

“More or less.” He shot you a knowing glance, clearly enjoying how annoyed you were. “Come on, you know school is boring. It’s just humans pretending they have their whole lives ahead of them. Depressing, really.”

You flopped onto the couch beside him, letting out an irritated sigh. “You are unbelievable. You act like you’re so above it all, but you’re the one who insisted on enrolling in the first place.”

“To keep an eye on you,” he corrected smoothly, draping an arm over the back of the couch. “Wouldn’t want you getting into trouble without me.”
