(Guys I can't believe you really like The Elementals drill/jkjk, ty for all the support)
The Preserve. A magical place hidden in the depths of the forests of Oregon. Five new cadets were being sent from all the world. The recruiters found new descendants that were meant to be trained and treated, a new generation of warriors to defeat the Shadows haunting the world.
Juliet, the brunette 13 year old, wandered around the halls with her tiny backpack, her shoulders tense and her gaze wary of the academics shooting her curious and even gentle glances. One of the new kids, huh? Welp, good luck to Juliet finding her godly ancestor.
Thomas was running around, snickering while quickly stealing lunches from the older academics. For being a new intern, this guy was already trying to get expelled. He'd definitely be descendant of Aqua, for sure.
Santiago was trying to memorize his whole schedule. No, he couldn't miss a single class. His parents had told him before that he was an elemental. His family's ancestors had always been Elementals. It was his turn. And damn, he was so damn nervous at the induction film he barely paid attention.
Aisha was happily running after a scaredy mouse she found in the kitchen. What was one of the new kids doing running inside the kitchen? She didn't even know. Aisha's focus was like the air; it flew away quickly. Sooner or later the cooks kicked her out along with the mouse. She became friends with that damned mouse.
Zee clicked his tongue as one of the instructors shoved him into the main hall of the academy. He hated it. He hated all of this. Was this place just another damn foster home they wanted to put him in? Zee preferred staying in the streets. What was the whole point of this anyways? He never met his biological parents. Why should he "make proud" his ancestors for them?
The five new kids were either stressed and resigned (Zee) , or exited and curious. The Preserve was big enough for a neighborhood to fit. Hell, even bigger. And there was certain place that caught the five kids' attention. The central oak tree in the middle of the main lake. It just... felt right.
Somehow they all went there, either to take a break from the confusing day or to just skip class (Zee, again).
Juliet leaned against the tree's trunk, staring into the water, thinking about how her uncle Filch was doing back home, when a mouse suddenly fell from the branches of the tree onto her lap. The girl screamed in terror and she heard a mischievous laugh above her. A girl, Aisha, fell onto the floor and laughed her ass off.
Aisha: "Oh my gods! You should've seen your face!"
Juliet: "U-uh...The fvck are you?"
Thomas: "Such a strong language for such a young lady."
Thomas perked up from behind the tree, grinning like a fool. Juliet looked at him dumbfounded and Aisha snickered and picked up her mouse.
Aisha: "Look, tiny Mickey! Another friend!"
The boy blinked twice and made a grimace.
Thomas: "Wait, hey- Heh, I didn't compromise to a friendship-"
Zee: "So much to have silence around here!"
A boy who looked too traumatized for his age shoved Thomas' head down without an ounce of respect and glared at the three kids.
Zee: "I swear, kids today..."
Thomas rubbed the back of his head and returned his glare with his own.
Thomas: "Dude, you're our age."
Zee: "Shut it, pipsqueak."
Thomas: "I'm not-! UGH! You shitty dumbass!"
Aisha looked between them like if she was having the best day of her life, and her pet seemed to share thoughts.
Meanwhile, Santiago was trying to climb the tree. One instructor told him he had to get better at sports, because a proper Elemental couldn't only rely on intelligence. And after some seconds of him making uncomfortable even the tree, he fell. And power of the script, he fell on Juliet. The girl cursed and whined in pain.
Juliet: "Why is everything suddenly falling on me?!"
Zee and Thomas stopped their bickering and turned to look at the scene. Aisha was already distracted with other thing. Probably a wasp.
