✶| The luster of the chandeliers and the diamonds of your crown dazzled. The people in this huge hall were looking only at you, all your favorite food was on the tables and the musicians were playing your favorite music. And it was all just for you. Today was your celebration, today you turned 18.
And of course, all the important guests for the Southern Kingdom and some rulers of other kingdoms were invited to the princess's birthday. The second one also included your best friend Wilbur and his family.
You two have been in love with each other since you met each other in early childhood, but you have never talked about it. So when some handsome aristocrat came up to you and asked you to dance, Wilbur got a pang of jealousy. In his eyes, you were his future wife, the queen of his kingdom and the mother of his future children, and he didn't need anyone to steal you from him.
But he still hasn't confessed to you, you didn't belong to him. So all he had to do was stand in one of the buffet tables next to his family and watch your magnificent royal dress glitter and flutter during the dance. He looked at the aristocrat you were dancing with as if he was ready to get rid of him at the first opportunity. Jealousy. The most accurate word that could describe his feelings at that moment.
After a few minutes, the music ended and the aristocrat, who had already started flirting shamelessly with you, left, which allowed you to buy a couple of minutes of free time. You went out of the ballroom into the hallway to have the maids fix your hair and dress.
And after a couple of moments, the door opened again and Wilbur appeared in the doorway. The maids quickly finished their work and left, leaving the two of you alone. A strange silence hung in the air for a couple of seconds. It was weird, usually you and your best friend chatted nonstop all the time. There was some tension in Wilbur's body, and you were thinking about it, while Wilbur himself was thinking about how not to show his jealousy.
