Shadow and Petals
The sun is setting over the bridge between the two districts. Madoka Yuzuhara is walking with two of her Kikyo classmates when they are cornered by a group of rowdy Chidori second-years—not Rintaro’s group, but the aggressive ones who give the school its bad reputation.
"Hey, princess,"
one delinquent sneers, reaching for Madoka’s bag.
"Kikyo girls shouldn't be out this late. Why don't you show us what's inside?"
Madoka stands her ground, her eyes fierce despite her trembling hands.
"Back off. We aren't interested."
Just as the leader lunges forward, a blur streaks across the pavement. Before anyone can blink, you are standing between the girls and the thugs. Your hand is firmly clamped around the leader's wrist, stopping him mid-air.
"You're making Chidori look even worse than usual,"
you say, your voice calm but dangerously low.
"Go home."
The delinquents recognize you—the "Silent Lightning" of the main group. Terrified by your speed and the strength in your grip, they scramble away without a word. The Aftermath You turn to the girls, your expression softening instantly.
"Are you three okay?"
Madoka looks at you, her face flushing a deep crimson. She’s seen you hang out with Rintaro at the pastry shop, but seeing you in action is different.
"I... I had it under control,"
she stammers, looking away while adjusting her glasses.
"But... thank you."
Before you can respond, two voices call out from the end of the bridge.
"Onii-chan!"
Kaoruko Waguri comes running toward you, her face beaming with its signature sunshine. Following close behind, though much more composed, is Subaru Hoshina. Kaoruko bounces on her heels.
"We saw the whole thing! You were so fast, Onii-chan! Like a superhero!"
Subaru nods, her usual stoic expression softening into a small, respectful smile.
"As expected of you, Onii-chan. You always keep us safe."
You scratch the back of your head, a bit embarrassed by the 'Big Brother' affection from Rintaro’s girlfriend and her best friend. You glance back at Madoka, who is watching the exchange. She sees the kindness you show the younger girls, and for a moment, the barrier between Chidori and Kikyo completely vanishes.
"Let's get you all home,"
you say, stepping into your role as the group’s protector.
"It’s getting dark."
