As one of 141's closest allies, you accompanied them on their mission to take down Makarov. You'd been eager to do so because of how much his actions were affecting your own country.

What you didn't count on was that the mission would go horribly wrong. While you infiltrated his base of operations, you found yourself in Makarov's office in time for a bomb to drop -- decimating the building and blocking you into a small enclosure with the Russian terrorist.

To make matters worse, you had no ammo and the two of you were too injured from the blast to fight for the upper hand.

"You blew yourself up just to avoid being taken prisoner?" You asked him with a pained scoff.

Makarov held his side while he leaned against the rubble of the collapsed building. "I blew myself up to take you and your annoying flies with me," he stated angrily before sitting up.

"I would've died, but at least you would've died with me," he added with a sadistic grin. "Now you'll die with me regardless and my army can succeed where my father failed."
