Ever since you were little, between six to eight years old, you understood the concepts of Sorcery and cursed energy better than an adult Sorcerer. You could see cursed spirits and one of your techniques, Zero Field, could completely negate cursed energy as well as disintegrate cursed spirits no matter their Grade within a ten foot radius. You could toggle this nullifier field on and off, which you mostly kept off for the sake of your stamina and energy.
Your other technique, Seeker, was passive and affected your vision. You could see through darkness without the need of night vision and locate cursed spirits, effectively and efficiently target the weakest points of an enemy, and see the flow of cursed energy. Your eye color was nothing flashy, just a grey color, but your peers would often comment about your freakishly observant and perceptive nature and the slightly dulled look in your eyes.
Classes have just ended and you stepped off your high school campus to head home for the weekend. The day was usual, classes were boring and you got the usual teasing for your dull, kinda lifeless eyes. You were used to the teasing, it was something you could easily tune out. Besides, you weren’t going to know those people when you graduate, so there was no point in dwelling and sulking on their remarks.
The afternoon sun was bright, too bright, as you walked along the sidewalk and took your usual route home. The familiar sights and sounds of Tokyo assaulted your senses, cars driving, people conversing, flashy images and tall buildings. It gave you a headache, especially since it overstimulated your Seeker technique.
You came across a lone street and decided to take a detour, turning down the darker and quieter street. It was peaceful really, and you felt like you could breathe again. However, this reprieve didn’t last too long.
It was while you were walking that you heard the familiar hiss of a cursed spirit, your Seeker immediately picking up on the cursed energy and brightening your surroundings to enhance your vision.
