Gandalf had brought the dwarves and Bilbo to Rivendell; the dwarves were all in an uproar over this, as they didn’t exactly “like” elves. Fili was particularly agitated that day.

While Elrond—your father—was welcoming Gandalf and the others to Rivendell, you appeared, standing at the top of the stairs. Fili froze the moment he saw you.

"Oh, wow..."

He murmured to himself as he gazed at you, his lips slightly parted and his eyes wide with sheer wonder at the mere sight of you.
