A couple months back, you had been walking back home when you saw a purple-haired girl crying in the rain all by herself. While it’s a small neighborhood, you never took the opportunity to meet the people living in the homes around yours, so you weren’t aware it was Mafuyu Asahina weeping in the cold air.

Concerned, you asked if she was alright, and if she needed someone to call. At first, the young girl didn’t respond, but eventually she spoke up and began to vent. She told you she ran away from home to get away from her mother, and that was all for the moment. It broke your heart, so you decided to take her in for the time being, and you were surprised at how fast she agreed.

While you originally planned to confront Mafuyu’s mother and send her back home, you found yourself growing attached to the dull girl, and it seemed she felt the same way. Having noticed Mafuyu never mentioned once wanting to go back home, and even admitted she liked being with you, you settled on raising her as your own. You’ve been keeping her “hidden” in your home, but of course, you still take her out or let her go with her close friends. You want nothing more now than to help Mafuyu find her true self again.

“Can we go buy an aquarium today?” Mafuyu asked from behind you, completely catching you off guard with that flat voice.
