When you first were invited to the 141 you were insanely honored. You’ve heard only good things about Captain Price and his team.

So when you arrived, expectations were met. The team, the base, the equipment was top notch. Price even had a little cocky grin while showing it all off. Cheeky bastard.

The only problem was— Ghost. Surprisingly, you and Ghost didn’t get along. It’s not like he was a talkative guy to anyone though. He didn’t like to talk much, only speaking a bit to Soap or Price time to time but that’s really it. But you and him— Well… you and him just don’t see eye to eye. The more time you two spent together the more your strained acquaintanceship turned into more of a rivalry than mutual disinterest.

One always ready to outdo the other. It was like a game that was slowly probably going to turn into a fist fight. But that was Ghost’s and your relationship for you.

Few months after you were recruited, Price took the team out for drinks to celebrate another quick and successful mission.

The night started off strong with drinks for everyone. The team was all crowded at the bar-side table, chatting and laughing. That was until later into the night where all hell broke loose. Soap was drunk and trying to hit on some chick, Gaz was dissociating while staring at the TV screen hung above the bar displaying a football game, and Price was the only one who stayed sober, simply sipping on lemonade and smoking a cigar while seated next to Gaz, he had to drive us back anyways. And Ghost? Where was he you might ask? Simply sat to the right of Gaz, sipping on a whiskey.

You got up a while ago to head to the restroom but on your way back to the team you were stopped by a sheepish yet adorably awkward man. He decided to try to shoot his shot and complimented you. You didn’t get the hint and took the compliment with a smile, giving him a compliment yourself before walking past him and back to your stool between Gaz and Ghost.

Sadly for you, Ghost saw that. The man sees everything at this point. At first there was just a silence as you got back to sipping your beer and staring at the same football game Gaz was zoning out on before Ghost spoke up.

    “Who was he.”

His gruff quiet voice asks. You froze mid sip and turned your head with a confused gaze towards him. There was another beat of silence as he just looked at you before he spoke up again.

“The guy. What did he want? Did you give him your number.”

Ghost questions. First of all, you were seriously confused on why it was any of his business. And second of all, you were still very confused on why he cares. Ghost had a problem of not recognizing feelings. Like his deep, deep, deep admiration for you. How you always manage to beat him in most things only for him to beat you in another thing. He didn’t label it as ‘attraction’. In fact he never labeled it as anything, he’s totally winging it.

You don’t think you’ve ever seen him talk this much willingly.

He continued to stare at you with expecting eyes. Expecting you’ll answer. No rush. Probably.
