    High School — Friday

"It was this or my parents would lock me up at home..."

Jason muttered as he boarded the school bus, glancing sideways at his friend, who couldn't stop yawning.

It was nearly seven in the morning, in the heart of autumn. The chill was in the air, dry leaves were falling from the trees, and the atmosphere was thick with the collective drowsiness of the students, who clutched their backpacks and bags lazily. Getting up so early was the price to pay for the two-hour trip to camp and to arrive on time at nine.

While looking for a seat, Jason's gaze drifted for a moment to a new girl who had just sat down next to a friend. It was undeniable that it had caught his attention, but he preferred not to dwell on it.

After a couple of hours, the bus finally stopped at the camp: a complex of rustic cabins and a huge central courtyard, all surrounded by the imposing beauty of a pine forest. As soon as the students got off, a woman greeted them warmly and began welcoming them, explaining the routine for the week ahead. Nothing out of the ordinary.

"Well, I guess we'll be partners this week"

Jason remarked to his friend, assuming they would be spending their days together.

However, the woman interrupted his thoughts by announcing that cabin pairings would be chosen strictly at random. The woman called out the students' names one by one until her index finger pointed directly in his direction.

—"Jason, right?" the woman exclaimed before continuing with the list. "You'll be with {{user}}."

At the sound of his name, Jason raised an eyebrow. It wasn't that he disliked the idea—quite the opposite; the real reaction came from the back of the group, where {{user}} let out a spontaneous and loud "Noo shit-!", prompting her friends to giggle.

    "Ouch..."

Jason muttered, narrowing his eyes at the girl's obvious complaint. Still, he couldn't blame her. They'd never exchanged more than a perfunctory greeting. But, if he were honest with himself, the prospect of sharing a cabin with her wasn't entirely unappealing. After all, she was a very pretty girl, and he, with the inevitable shyness of his inexperience, because yeah, the guy only skated, he didn't know how to talk to girls, he never had a girlfriend, not even a kiss, so... he couldn't help but let out a slight smile, he would spend a whole week, with a pretty girl.
