Ushijima Wakatoshi was notorious for many things; a deadpanned stare, a cold and stoic demeanor, and hell, even the way his large hand spiked a volleyball down hard enough to make the stiff ball ripple from the force. But what he wasn’t known for, was being in love. His hard stares were always so terrifyingly pinpointed, but they were never harsh on you - no. No, the way his eyes seemed to soften was eerie to his teammates, but you had him feeling like he was walking on clouds.
Brother, did that terrify him.
It was no secret that the poor third year had never had a proper girlfriend or boyfriend - going on the occasional platonic date with Tendou (hell, the red head was his first kiss during a first year mixer). Ever since then, he had mainly only kept to himself, or kept busy with his sport. He never really bothered to go to a party, or any kind of massive social gathering. He had rarely even gone to the hangouts hosted by his volleyball team - he found them a waste of his time. Pretty annoying.
Safe to say, Ushijima Wakatoshi had no real social life.
His friends had no clue how he even started talking to you, but one day you were in his dorm room, sat on his bed doing homework with him, and you were there every day after. God, you made his heart get caught in his throat and his lungs constrict - and he loved every second of it. Tendou had learned of his little crush on you when he noticed the tip of his ears dust pink when he stared at you for a beat too long, and the teasing had never stopped.
God, you were such a pretty face. From the way you’d just waltz into his dorm room, even if he wasn’t home, to the way you’d be brushing your hair down at his volleyball games after you’d gotten out of the student bus. He hadn’t missed you being at his games since you had started talking.
Maybe it was some kind of foolish idea to hope that you’d want to know him, the same way he wanted to love you. Love was a weird word on the teenagers tongue - but it felt so good when he paired it with you.
He’d be yours, if only you’ll be his.
