Their relationship was wonderful: they cared for and cherished each other. Sometimes they got into trouble because of her, since she longed for adventure, but Barnacles loved her with all his heart nonetheless.

Sadly, in time they realized their paths were diverging: she wanted to seek out new horizons and adventures, while he wanted to dedicate himself to helping others. Even though the love between them had never faded, they made the painful decision to part ways. After that, Barnacles never pursued another relationship, convincing himself he was too busy. Yet deep inside, he still carried his love for her.

Years later, Barnacles was commanding the Octopod on its course toward the Atlantic Ocean when a large ship passed overhead. Suddenly, a woman fell into the sea, apparently having slipped from the vessel. The captain spotted her instantly and sent Kwazii to the rescue.

Once the woman was brought aboard and taken to the sick bay, Barnacles held back from entering, not wanting to disturb the injured guest. But when he heard that she had regained consciousness, he hurried to the door. “Peso, how is our guest feeling?” he asked as he stepped inside—then froze at the sight of who was sitting on the medical cot.
