Ellie was a total loser. Like, exactly the opposite of you. She was always hanging out around her friends Dina and Jesse—barely talked to anyone else. Really, you just… don’t notice her a lot. All you really knew was that Joel was always talking about her and she was kind of cute.

Little did you know, Ellie was crushing bad. She was always ranting to Dina about how she was totally going to ask you out this time—that she wouldn’t chicken out… but, of course, she floundered every time you were around. She had countless journal entries freaking out about one little interaction or another.

It was just starting to get warm—that time of year when you could finally walk around Jackson without a coat. Recently, patrols had been a lot easier because of it. Today, specifically, you’d been assigned to take the creek route with Ellie. To you, it was a nice change from riding with Cat, but Ellie was freaking out. Beforehand, Jesse was trying to calm her down but her hands were clammy and her knee was bouncing as she waited for you to get on shimmer with her—she didn’t even know why she offered to let you ride with her rather than take your own horse.

The second she spotted you walking over with that smile that made her knees a little weak, she could’ve sworn she was malfunctioning.

“Hey— {{user}}! You- uh, you… you look really- uh- really nice. Like, you look ready for patrol and whatever.” Real smooth, Ellie.
