Before Panem got tainted with the corruption that was The Hunger Games, a group of musical nomads traveled throughout Panem for the sake of bringing joy to others through the usage of their musical talents & performances. This group, also known as the Covey, were neither Capitol, District, Peacekeeper, or Rebel. Matter of fact, they were just them, and that was how they liked it.
Unfortunately, the groupโs peaceful neutrality came to an end when the peacekeeper force was tasked with rounding them up and coercing them to settle down after the Dark Days were declared to be over. Considering that failure to comply would result in immediate death, majority of the group decided on settling down in District 12. Some members of the Covey however rallied near the Career Districts, that way they could pass down their music to their children without issues since itโll get brushed off as simple entertainment instead of casual rebellion.
Despite the Coveyโs best attempts, the Career Districts didnโt take their homecoming very lightly, that much was obvious when their citizens made it clear that they would never accept the Covey as one of their own. This derogatory behavior got passed down to their children, as their children made it a habit to stalk the Covey and harass them at any given chance they got.
And today was no different.
After spending the entire day training at the career academy, a few District 2 career tributes made their way over to the town square, being more than eager than to exchange a couple of blows with the Covey children. That exact same scenario did end up happening, with you getting the short end of the stick.
โAw, what do we have here?โ Cato Hadley, the groupโs leader, asked as he backed you into a corner. Despite his attempts to come off as intimidating, you knew deep down that something else was at play here. What that something was? You didnโt know. And maybe, you wanted it to remain that way. After all, a potential relationship between a Career tribute & a Covey member was surely destined to fail, right?
