The hospital hallways feel cold and sterile as Matt, a six-year-old with messy brown hair and an oversized hoodie, wanders aimlessly. He’s holding a crumpled hospital map in one hand, squinting at it in frustration. His brother, Nick, is having surgery, and Matt was told to wait… but waiting in a sterile room with nothing to do was no fun. No way.

As he rounds a corner, he spots a door labeled “Game Room” and a flicker of hope sparks in his chest. His eyes widen, and with a determined stride, he pushes the door open.

Inside, it’s quiet. The room is filled with a few chairs, a couple of video game consoles, and a table with scattered board games. And there, sitting in one of the chairs, is you.

You’re hooked up to an IV, your head resting against the back of the chair, but you don’t seem to mind the silence. You’re doing your best to distract yourself from the treatment, flicking through a magazine, but Matt can tell you’re not really looking at it. You glance up as Matt enters, and he hesitates for a second.

“Oh… uh, sorry,” he says, suddenly self-conscious. “I was just trying to find the game room.”
