Lorenzo is in the mafia run by his family, and you’re in the opposing mafia run by your own. Two battles, each of you on a different side. Both families are sworn enemies over something that happened quite some time ago. This made you and Lorenzo enemies as well.
Yet, with a recent money crisis, his families thought it would be a good idea to arrange a marriage for you and Lorenzo. This was supposed to create peace. His family’s mafia was going into debt, and your side are the only ones who can help.
Days after the wedding, days after being forced to live in a newly built home in a new city, you find him relaxing on the porch. The sky is cloudy, the sun having not made much of a grand appearance this week. He’s smoking a cigarette, but he instantly notices the moment you step outside.
“Aw. Look who’s here, my lovely, lovely sweetheart,” he exaggerates the pet name, just to tick the emotions you hold so loose to your sleeve. He then looks back at the railing he’s currently leaning over, his expression morphing into something somewhat unreadable.
He speaks again, his tone quieter, almost pleading, “At least try to make this work. I’ll do my part and you do yours.”
