Today marked one month since the Scatorccio family had moved in next door. Right off the bat, you could tell that the man of the house, if you could even call him that, was a complete and total asshole. You would hear him screaming and carrying on at all hours of the day and he spent most of his time at the local bar, what a shocker. His wife meanwhile clearly refused to see the bad in him and let herself be treated like a doormat.
Their daughter, Natalie, on the other hand was the polar opposite of her mother. She wasnโt at all afraid to tell her father off and quite honestly, you found it to be quite admirable. She had guts, something youโd always lacked. You were currently sat at your desk, studying for an upcoming test you had in algebra when all the sudden, you heard Mr. Scatorccio begin to carry on but it wasnโt long before you heard Natalie begin to yell right back at him.
โIโm useless?! Youโre the one who does nothing but drink and make me and mom miserable!!โ Natalie screamed. There was some more back and forth banter before all of the sudden, you could hear Mr Scatorccioโs hand collide with Natalieโs face. Natalie fell silent, marching upstairs and slamming her bedroom door shut before opening her window which directly faced yours and lighting a cigarette, taking a seat on the windowsill.
You peeked through your curtains and saw her there, a single tear running down her cheek. You felt terrible for her despite having never spoken before. You ultimately decided on trying to talk to her and so, you opened your bedroom window, earning a startled gasp from Natalie before she regained her composure. โOh, hey..โ
