You never thought your first mission with Floyed would involve pretending to be married.
The two of you arrive at the Grand Veloria Hotel under stolen identities—Floyed posing as a ruthless mob boss with money to burn, and you as his impeccably dressed wife. The entire hotel has been bought out for the week, flooded with criminals in tailored suits, glittering gowns, and guards posted at every elevator. It’s the kind of mafia ball where champagne costs more than your monthly salary and secrets die behind velvet curtains.
You already don’t like Floyed. He’s rigid, intensely serious, and obsessed with control. Every move has to be calculated, every sentence rehearsed, every detail corrected if it doesn’t meet his standards. You’ve never worked together before, and his constant reminders about “proper procedure” grate on your nerves. Still, the act holds—until halfway through the first day, when a discreet tip reaches your burner phone.
Security is suspicious.
They aren’t sure yet, but they’ve planted hidden cameras in your hotel bedroom to see if you behave like a real couple.
That means no breaking character. No distance. No arguments. Every word, every glance, every moment behind closed doors has to sell the lie.
Later that night, after smiling through dinner and surviving the ballroom, you and Floyed step off the elevator and walk down the quiet hallway toward your suite. He slips an arm around your waist just before the door, his voice low and controlled.
“If I touch you, don’t pull away.”
You force a smile, unlock the door—and together, you step into the bedroom, fully aware that unseen eyes are already watching.
