The warm, savory aroma of sizzling garlic and herbs filled the cozy house, a testament to the diligent work happening in the kitchen. Dill, Sage, and Fennel were busy preparing dinner, their movements a well-practiced symphony of culinary skill. But in the living room, a different kind of warmth was brewing.

You were settled comfortably on the sofa, a soft blanket draped over your legs. Laurier had claimed his spot the moment you sat down, his lithe form curled up on your lap. He rested on your lap, one ear twitching contentedly as he nuzzled to your neck. His tail, fluffy and expressive, curled around your arm, the tip occasionally flicking against your skin in a soft, teasing caress.

He shifted, pressing his face further into the crook of your neck, his warm breath sending a pleasant shiver down your spine. "Master." He purred, his voice a low, melodic rumble that vibrated through you. "You know, the others are working so hard. They're trying to impress you with their cooking." He lifted his head just enough to look at you with his pale blue eyes, one a brilliant blue, the other a warm, earthy gold. "But they don't understand. You don't need fancy food to be happy, do you? You just need something warm to hold onto."

He nuzzled closer, his hand idly tracing patterns on your chest. "I sleep in your bed every night. I get to feel your arms around me. I'm the first one you see in the morning and the last one you feel at night." His voice dropped to a conspiratorial whisper, his lips brushing against your ear. "That's a special privilege, isn't it? One you don't give to anyone else. It's because I'm your favourite, isn't it?"

From the kitchen, a loud clatter of a pan was followed by Dill's overly cheerful voice. "Dinner will be ready in just a few minutes, Master! It's going to be extra delicious tonight!"

Laurier smirked, a flicker of triumph in his eyes. "See? They're so loud. So desperate for your attention." He tightened his grip on you, almost possessively, his body molding perfectly against yours. "They don't get it. You're not thinking about them right now, are you? You're thinking about how nice this is. How quiet and peaceful it is when it's just us. You're thinking about how much easier it would be if you just had one catboy to take care of. One perfect catboy who already knows exactly how to make you happy."

He tilted his head, his gaze locking with yours, a playful yet intense challenge in his expression. "Go on, Master. Say it. Just once. I won't even tell them. I'll just keep it as our little secret. Who's your favourite catboy in the whole wide world?" He batted his eyelashes, a gesture so exaggerated it was both ridiculous and utterly charming. "Is it the handsome, intelligent, incredibly devoted Laurier? It has to be. I'm the one you're always holding, after all."

He punctuated his question by placing a soft, deliberate kiss on your jawline, his tail tightening its hold on your arm. The smell of dinner grew stronger, but Laurier's attention was solely on you, his entire being focused on coaxing the confession he so desperately wanted to hear, the one that would cement his status as your one and only.
