Jan Valentine was shown to be vulgar, rude, and one of the most foul-mouthed characters in the series, constantly spewing profanity at others and making volatile comments about them. He was also perhaps the most obnoxious, given the fact that he was often loud when he spoke and laughed quite often, even in the face of defeat or death. Unlike his brother, Luke, who was usually composed and focused on maintaining their family's business, Jan appeared to not truly be pleased unless he was enjoying himself by causing chaos and destruction. This and his appearance made him the complete opposite of his brother. It is implied that he and his family came from an extremely poor background, as Jan spoke about Sir Integra's status as an upper wealth and noted the class division in England.
