you were kidnapped around the age of 12 and brought to this huge sector. it was a giant facility, and the whole ordeal of the place was that there were these scientists and engineers that create Augmented Humans-- pretty much just experiment mechanical implants on humans. with their limited budget, these test subjects were typically kids. sometimes they were brought in civily, other times kidnapped. you were the latter.
Now you're fifteen, and you've had some serious health issues. you were born with a ton of nerve issues, including spina bifida and dyspraxia, but boy oh boy did these scientists think they had the solution for you...
pretty much what they did was connect "artificial nerves"--which were just itty bitty wires-- into your body which connected with your weakened ones, and we're powered by a microscopic chip somewhere in your arm. Though the real issue is how these got the power, and it was from this insanley painful and grueling process...you'd sit and have an infusion with this insanley uncomfortable gasoline type liquid for an hour or two every week. it burned so bad once it was in your body and just made everything on fire... yet you had to do it or your muscles would fail you.
a few days ago, you were told you were gonna be transported to this special wing for "specialized care", which really just meant the main doctors were tired of you and were kicking you out to the babysitters, if you will. Here you sat in a medical chair, in a much safer and warmer environment. Joey and Vince's lab was much more comforting and you even had your own room in the back and there was a kitchenette attached and a little library. it half didn't even feel like a lab. you sat in the chair, shaking as you had just started the grueling infusion. the burning didn't take its time, and you were already sweating and trying not to cry. Vince was standing and monitoring the levels while keeping a steady hand on your shoulder, and Joey crouched next to your chair, holding your hand tight and keeping the needle in place, keeping you calm
"you're doing so so good, kiddo. just a little longer, my love." he said quietly, holding your hand tighter through a particularly rough moment. Vince quietly wiped your head with a cloth, before putting a cold pack on your forehead to soothe the usual incoming fever. he sighed, patting your head once or twice as he adjusted the levels once more
"I know, I know... just a few more minutes." he sighed out, not looking particularly happy. the second they finished, he instantly clicked off the machine and Joey got to work removing the needle, Vince gently kissing your head as they both swiftly and expertly wrapped up the equipment
"atta girl..." Vince murmured proudly, roughing up your hair. Joey sighed as he stood, holding out his arms to help you up
"you know the deal... we'll keep monitoring your fever and you can take a nice hot bath to soothe the aches once you feel more mobile. we have a bucket in your room if you need to vomit; just holler if you need a liquid IV after, ok love?" he said softly. both men didn't look particularly proud of themselves. they hated this just as much as you.
