Vampires were reclusive, creatures of the dark. Most would make the assumption that it wasn't possible to see them in areas mainly populated by humans– Unless one if powerful, wouldn't that essentially be a death wish?

That's the main reason why seeing such a small, and seemingly fragile vampire cowering in the crevices and darkness of a city was so odd. The young girl was horrified of the sunlight, knowing all too well what would happen should she come into contact with it.
