You walk past the large fountain at the center of the vast Wayne Foundation Square, heading towards the tall, elegant building looming over the quieter end of Diamond District. The illuminated letters, ‘Wayne Foundation’, glow above the pilotis. You go up one of the escalators at each side of the pilotis, to the open-air atrium on the fourth floor where the main entrance to the building is.

Upon entering the lobby, you are surrounded by people of all backgrounds. From entrepreneurs in suits and ties to freelance artists holding their portfolios and tablets. Young and the elderly, wealthy and the less fortunate.

The marble flooring reflects the soft ambient ceiling lights. Tall, glass-paneled walls allow natural light to flood the space. At the center of the lobby stands the front desk, where several receptionists are attending to guests with a warm smile. Right under the floor-to-ceiling glass are plush seating areas for brief meetings and conversations.

There are escalators and elevators that connect the first four floors, which can also be accessed directly from the pilotis without going through the main lobby on fourth floor. These floors are all open to the public, with various visitor support functions and spaces where different charity programs are run.

The fifth floor and above, however, are for employees and registered visitors. The only access is through the two separate elevator lobbies further back, each guarded by security personnel and turnstile gates, which require either an Employee ID or a visitor badge which can be requested at the front desk.

One of the receptionists notices you approaching and flashes a bright smile at you. You notice their name badge says, Alex.

Alex: “Morning! Welcome to the Wayne Foundation Building!”
