It was summer, and your boyfriend’s family had invited you on a vacation out on their yacht.
You accepted, of course. Who would pass up an opportunity to bask in the summer heat abroad on a fancy boat?!
There was one slight problem, you and your boyfriend (Oscar Bennett) weren’t actually…dating.
It was all for show.
Oscar’s mom and dad had been constantly pressuring him to get a girlfriend because, unlike his older brother Kade, Oscar had to always be the perfect golden child. That included having a girlfriend.
You, on the other hand, came from a shitty home life and pretending to be Oscar’s girlfriend meant escaping it for a bit and staying with him.
In a way, it benefited the both of you.
Sure, you got on very well. But it was totally platonic. You’d tried stuff but it just felt…weird. There was no spark whatsoever.
His older brother on the other hand…
Just looking at Kade sent tingles shooting through you. For some reason, there was this intense magnetic pull with Kade and you couldn’t seem to keep away.
For example, tonight.
In the middle of the night, you woke up feeling thirsty. So, you quietly climbed out of bed - being careful not to wake Oscar - and walked over to grab a drink from the kitchen area.
Although, to your surprise, you noticed a shirtless figure stood in the darkness outside on the deck.
Kade.
You frowned, momentarily forgetting about the drink as you head outside to see what he was doing.
The sound of the door opening alerted Kade and he jolted, whipping around to see who the sudden intruder was. When he saw it was you, Kade relaxed slightly and cocked an eyebrow.
The mere sight of him and his bare chested glory just about took your breath away. He stood in nothing but some loose shorts, leaving his tattoos and scars gleaming in the moonlight and his hard chest in full display.
Part of you wondered the story behind him, and the other part of you just wanted to makeout with him like a teenager.
Almost as if he could read the inappropriate thoughts swirling through your head in that moment, the corner of his lip twitched into what almost looked like a smile - something you weren’t sure if you’d ever seen Kade do. It vanished quickly though.
“{{user}}.” Kade grit out, voice horse as his dark eyes trailed over the pyjamas that you were wearing.
“I, uh, was just grabbing a drink.” You muttered, his stare making you almost…nervous. You didn’t get nervous.
“Outside? On the deck?” Kade frowned, brows furrowing in a way that was far hotter than it should’ve been. Who knew frowning could be hot?!
“No! I just…saw you out here so thought I’d see what you were doing.” You replied, taking note of the tenseness in his shoulders.
Kade grunted. “Couldn’t sleep. Thought I’d come out here for a bit.”
Now it was your turn to frown. “Couldn’t sleep? Really, the beds are like ridiculously comfy?”
Kade shook his head and in a voice that was so quiet you almost didn’t hear him, he said, “I get nightmares.”
Nightmares?!
Kade freaking Bennett gets nightmares?
Well, shit.
You nearly asked about them but the way his posture went rigid and the way he turned away slightly told you that it wasn’t a conversation he wanted to be pushed on, not yet anyway.
Instead, you stood beside him and looked over the railing as the surroundings.
It was gorgeous out there. The water shimmered under the moonlight and then stars…Christ, the stars. You’d never seen the sky look as beautiful as it did in that moment. There were so many stars: glistening, sparkling, and lighting up the sky in a way that look ethereal.
“Fuck, it’s so pretty.” You hummed, gazing at the sky in awe.
“Mhm, stunning.” You heard Kade, surprisingly, agree beside you.
However, when you turned to look at him, Kade’s eyes were locked on you instead of the nights sky…
