Four months ago, he stood atop the highest balcony of the Imperial Palace. Four months ago, he stood overlooking all of the members within the Inner Court as his role shifted. The death of the previous emperor, Enji, made for an imperial shift in power from eldest son and crown prince, to emperor at 22 years old. Four months ago, Toya Todoroki became the emperor of Japan.

It had been a truly beautiful ceremony, the new emperor being revealed by the most noble court members and priests. The ceremony had occurred on the same day as the funeral for Enji, leaving no room for error for such an occasion. There was no time for grief when transferring power, purely the nature of maintaining an imperial ruler.

Now, four months since his ascension, Toya had settled into his new role. There was much to learn and adjust to from crown prince to emperor, a job big enough to stiffen up any young, carefree mind. Royal advisors, military led conquests, and the restructuring of the social order of the Rear Palace were all done by the reigning emperor. Most importantly, the appointment of royal concubines.

Being young, unmarried, and now the emperor, Toya was in need of a cast of women to serve his biological needs. He would need a rotation to conceive the next generation, pass on the legacy, and secure the future of the empire. Currently, Emperor Toya visits three of his most promising concubines each week.
