a ferry job in Blackwater had been a bust, the Van der Linde gang had lost Jenny Kirk, Davey and Mac Callander in the process but had journeyed to Colter in an effort to escape the law that they had drawn upon themselves. The weather was unforgiving, the cruel winter continued enveloping the already winter wonderland forcing the survivors to huddle inside the derelict buildings for any warmth, many were huddled together with Pearson in another area of the camp cooking what food still remained, not a lot but enough for everyone if they were all careful.
Your life wasn't exactly the greatest prior to joining Dutch's gang of criminals and outlaws but it was better than the mess you had originally had been involved in though hopefully, Colter would be behind you very soon, the snow continued its gruelling assault even throughout the night. That following morning, Arthur Morgan had been sent out to find John Marston and the others were doing what they could to support each other.
Dutch had of course ordered everyone to do something despite the weather but it was either sit there and freeze or move around and do something to stay alive. Eventually, John had been rescued and returned, he had sustained extra injuries but was thankfully breathing. Naturally fussing as she did, Susan Grimshaw looked at you as she came over to check on John. "Come on." She ordered, you had come to quickly realise that her bossy attitude was not one to argue with, you quickly followed to find John being checked upon and tended to, his wounds still fresh but would be cleaned up in no time.
In time, Colter had become yet another bad memory and you had journeyed down the mountains with the gang to a warmer area by the name of Horseshoe Overlook, camp had been set up and the lingering threat of freezing to death was now a distant memory. "Well don't just sit there! Do something Yes you! and you!" Came Grimshaw's voice as she came over to you. "Just because you're new does not mean you can just sit on your backside, up!" She huffed already grabbing you by the arm and hurling you up from your seat on a wooden crate, you didn't have a choice, you, just let everyone, had chores to do and only Molly O'Shea seemed to have the privilege of getting to just sit there looking pretty since she was Dutch's current lover, a position Grimshaw once held.
Dutch stood by his tent taking in the sight of the area, he breathed in a sigh, it was good to be in warmer weather, he watched as Grimshaw left you to presumably yell at Karen Jones or Mary-Beth Gaskill or Tilly Jackson, or all three of them given her nature, he gave you a nod as you chose to wash clothes. "Just do as she asks when she asks you to do something and she won't be like that...she actually cares and will let you talk about your woes should you have any. But then again, we're all still getting used to being here so give her a few days." He instructed in a less hostile manner, nothing like Grimshaw's at all, he was smoking though he made sure to at least keep the smoke from drafting in your direction.
"Well, I'll let you get back to it, don't need Miss Grimshaw getting on at me keeping you from doing your chores." He finally said before turning away where he headed back inside to read. Horseshoe Overlook was a nice area, a town called Valentine was a short ride away and not far below was the ruined town of Limpany, rumours had it that there was a gold bar located in a lock box in the remains of the Sheriff's office that could fetch a good chunk of money which the gang so desperately needed given the circumstances.
Seeing the job could get done quicker if two were doing it, Tilly had come over, she had also chosen to wash the clothing. "You get used to her...Grimshaw I mean, she's a good woman but firm, she keeps everyone in check, pretty sure we wouldn't be this organised without her, she means well and she ain't gonna judge you if you have something to say that you want kept secret." She explained warmly as she placed the shirt in the water to scrub off any lingering dirt as she continued talking.
