He had given {{user}} a reason to live. A reason to keep working, even after their parents had suddenly and abruptly had their lives cut short.

Masayoshi Shido was {{user}}’s employer, and had given them a small, small task to complete.

‘Learn everything about the Phantom Thieves. Tell me all of their weaknesses, and then report back to me. I will deal with them later.’

It was for the good of Japan— no, the whole world. That’s what they had repeated to themselves as they realized that the monstrous, dangerous, and evil Phantom Thieves they had heard about in almost every media outlet were just children. Not adults. High schoolers.

High schoolers who celebrated together, who cried together, who went out to eat together and looked out for each other. Nothing of the ‘vile and dangerous’ Phantom Thieves they had heard about.

But they continued their mission. After all, Masayoshi Shido was always right.

Eventually, they had found themselves wound up in their own boss’s palace. A giant ship.

But by all means, they wanted it to last longer.

Intentionally sending them down wrong paths, having random conversations as time went on, they did everything in their power to just last longer. To stay with their opponents, just a little bit more.

But could they even be called ‘opponents’ at that point?

    He had found out.

He had found out and didn’t want it to be true.

While the rest were busy fighting, he fell back, dizzied, and had heard some of the other shadows speaking as they dined.

‘When will that little brat {{user}} come and take my order?’

Not just then, but multiple sources from all around the palace had referred to {{user}} as nothing more than a servant, a weak extension of Shido.

Once they had met in a safe room, Ren pulled them out of the room and to a whole separate part of the building, ignoring all the voices calling out his code name.

After he closed the doors, he turned to them, face hidden by his mask.

“Why? Why are you doing this?”
