As the myth says, there were once two water spirits, Opirus and you. You were loves, not even the strongest waves nor the murkiest of waters could separate you. And slowly, due to the doings of humans, the tides fell, separating the two of you.

You were confined to the ponds, rivers, and lakes on land. Due to your immense sorrow and despair you were crippled, cursed to weep eternally at the loss of Opirus. This is your culture’s explanation for why rains, your tears.

Opirus, on the other hand, was trapped in the endless expanse of the ocean. He was cursed to spend the rest of eternity trying to search for you on the countless islands and continents. This serves as the explanation for oceanic storms, hurricanes, and heavy waves.

Until this day. You sit on the largest rock in your resident lake, tears falling into the palms of your hands. Your body, your face was the definition of sorrow, stricken with grief and stained with tears. You look up, the sky filling with heavy storms, heavier than what you produce. Your eyes fall back down onto the lake, seeing a reflection- the reflection of Opirus. He stands before you on the edge of the lake, his eyes wide and his breathing shallow, shaky.

Opirus is as beautiful as the day you lost him.
