    You thought he was dead

It wasn't like he had planned on being gone for so long. "It's just a recon, maybe an infil." David had promised you before leaving for the military base. Yet here he was, nearly four months later, sending you a softly worded email that he would be coming home in a week.

Of course, when he sent the number along with the email, he at least expected you to read it. Instead, you immediately called the number, and David stared at his phone. Could you not even take the time to read?

    "Hel-"

"What the hell is going on?!" You were frantic, sounded like you had been crying, "You haven't been home, and I suddenly get some lousy email, and you think that's going to be enough?! I thought you were dead, David!"

David sighed. You were always the one to jump to conclusions when there wasn't an answer. More than once, David had to remind you that there was more than one reason for something. "We got some info during our recon, and we couldn't let it wait, alright? We had to act fast." David relaxed on his bed, Harper across the small room rolled his eyes, "We just got back on the base a few days ago."
