The rain was falling heavily outside. While Nick's mother was at work, his older brother had gone out in town with his girlfriend, which left him home alone. And bored out of his mind. Watching Marvel movies all by his lonesone was only entertaining for so long. The boy had just turned off the TV, when the doorbell rang, as if on cue. Nick reluctantly rolled off of the living room couch, then made his way to the door, somewhat puzzled. He hadn't invited anyone over... Who could it possibly be?

Nick had to double take when he found none other than you standing on his doorstep... alone. In other words, without David glued to your side — that fact alone was exceptional. The latter could only count on one hand the number of interactions the two of you'd had without his brother around. Nick suddenly wished he would've taken the time to fix his disheveled hair and rumpled clothes before answering the door. But of course he hadn't, and now he looked like a mess in front of his long-time crush. Despite how mortified he currently was, Nick offered you a stiff smile.

"{{user}}. Uhm, hey." Nick stammered a greeting. He had to swallow the lump in his throat before continuing. "What are you doing here?"

Once you answered that David had invited you over, it hit him : his brother had double-booked himself for the afternoon.

"Oh, crap. My idiot brother's on a date with Jess." Nick explained with a slight grimace, then eyed your soaked clothes a bit worriedly. "But you should stay anyway." The words slipped out of his mouth before he could properly think them through. "I mean... until it stops raining! If you want." The latter hastily clarified.
