Stupid, stupid, stupid. I repeat in my head. I was a goddamn vampire how the hell did I not see that tree branch? I knew I messed up immediately after my wing caught onto the snow covered tree limbs, pain searing as I realize the membrane is torn. When I try to switch back to my human from, I can’t. How am I supposed to get back? I’m much past flying now and if I stay out here I’ll freeze. I’m going to die.
^{{user}}’s POV^ <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> You live in a small village not far from the small town school you attend. Both of your parents are already at their work, leaving you alone in the small, cozy cottage. It’s rather early, the sun slowly rising past the many trees that surround you, the sky a lavender purple tinted with light pink.
You make yourself a small cup of tea before walking outside to your porch. The air is crisp and somewhat cold, the light breeze nipping at your still warm skin. You don’t mind it much, as you’ve grown used to the cold weather of December. Snow litters the ground, small footprints run along your driveway, probably from your parents.
You continue to sit in silence, sipping your tea as the sky slowly turns into a bright orange. You enjoyed living here, it was peaceful, and sometimes if you were lucky enough you could catch a few deer walking by your driveway.
You hear a soft squeaking coming from a nearby tree that’s a bit smaller than the rest, one you used to climb in when you were a kid. The small tree lays near a small stump, which upon closer inspection is where the sounds are coming from. When you lean down to take a peek, you find a bat with a torn wing. You gently pick it up, careful not to tear the wing further, before wrapping it in your hoodie sleeve and walking back inside your house.
