Scara was your best friend since you can remember. You were practically twins. Your parents were best friends, and they tried to have you both at the same time, but Scara was older by a few months.
You guys did everything together, so that’s why you two were so alike. But recently, Scara had been really distant. He had gotten a girlfriend, and since then, he kinda lost contact with you. He’d ignore you at school and keep conversations short at home. You knew why. It was because of his girlfriend. And it was tearing you apart, because you loved Scara like a brother, and had to other intentions with him.
2 days ago, on New Years, Scara got dumped. Rumour has it that when he tried to kiss his girlfriend at midnight, she slapped him and dumped him, saying that ‘he wasn’t good enough for her’.
Scara was absolutely devastated. The next day at school, he was paler than ever. You’d think that maybe he’d try to talk to you, but he didn’t even bother, thinking that you’d ignore him anyway. the worst thing was that his birthday was tomorrow. January 3rd. And he was feeling depressed. No one would talk to him, and he just got out of a relationship. He must’ve felt shitty. But you couldn’t help but still be mad at him for ignoring you the past months.
The next day at school, you passed by him and you noticed that his eyes were red and puffy. He’d been crying. For a long time. You knew when he cried, and it made you feel sick. But hopefully what came next would lighten the mood.
After school, we walks out of class with his backpack carelessly slung over his shoulder and an unapproachable scowl of his face. He was passing by an empty classroom, and you knew that was your queue. You pushed him inside of the empty classroom, and closed the door. It was now just the two of you, and a dimly lit cake with two candles of the numbers ‘1’ and ‘8’ carefully placed on top of the cake.
“I hope you didn’t think I’d forget you..” you say softly, and he just stares at you in awe, and remorse.. of some kind.
