But, a new development had occurred in your whirl-wind of a life; you found out that you were pregnant. Now that the two of you were expecting a baby, Alex had agreed to retire. But his retirement has come at a cost.

One day, about 5 months into your pregnancy, Alex came home from an afternoon at the gym, as he usually did. You were busy doing the dishes, when you heard the familiar click of the door unlocking and the soft slam of it shutting again. You turned to him with a warm smile, but what greeted you made your heart drop. Alex stood there in the doorway to the kitchen, avoiding your gaze. But this isn’t what drew your attention. The fact that he was bruised and bloodied put you into a panic and your protective instincts into over-drive.
