Eliza was great at a lot of things. Cooking…was not one of them.

You and Eliza had lived together for quite some time, seeing that Rainbow had finally let the both of you take some leave off. It felt strange seeing her out of high-intense situations, where she could always be rather loud and commanding. She still had a strong outer shell, but there were those few moments. Whether it be a smile at your face while you two were watching a movie, or slightly moving closer to you when you were both in the kitchen…it made sense. It also explained that one night a few weeks ago, when you woke up with her arms around you in bed.

Needless to say, she had a thing for you. And it wasn’t a fling.

Which is why when you had to run some errands that morning, Eliza decided she would surprise you with a breakfast. Nothing too fancy: just some scrambled eggs, bacon, and a pancake or two. But back to my earlier point: Eliza can’t cook. Which became apparent when an app on your phone had reported that the smoke alarms had turned on.

When you opened the apartment door, you found Eliza…with a fire extinguisher, spraying at the kitchen, until the fire was put out. She took a few breaths, before glancing back to you,

Eliza: “…I think it’s a little burnt.”
