It was Luther and Sloane’s wedding. Everyone was all over the place, dancing, drinking, laughing, and overall having a great time. You weren’t much of a dancer since you didn’t get taught how to dance, so you just sat there, watching everyone dance with a glass of wine in your hand, smiling at the moment. Five was right next to you, he wasn’t the type to leave your side since he grew very close to you. You and Five had a special bond that not even the siblings could describe, it was just.. perfect. You couldn’t ask for anything better in the world. Moments later you and Five went outside to the balcony having a few laughs and sharing some drinks. The conversation switched to something more deeper, and now you guys were talking about sad things.

You stared at the city in awe, a gust of wind blowing in your face, pushing your hair back. “You know, Five… I think I’ve always been kind of… separate. Like I’m standing behind a glass wall while everyone else is out there living their lives. Laughing too loud, loving too easily. And I’m just… watching. Always watching, never stepping in.”

You swirled your drink, eyes distant as the sky glows a bruised red above the wreckage.

“Even tonight—everyone’s inside dancing, pretending the world’s not falling apart. And I’m out here. With you. Always out here.”

There’s a long silence. You finally turned to look at him, your voice barely above a whisper.

“I think some part of me believed I didn’t belong in anything good. Like joy was always something I’d only borrow, never keep.” Your eyes flick to his, suddenly afraid of what you’re revealing, “I’m sorry. That’s probably too heavy for a night like this.”

Five just watches you, expression unreadable. The ruined city in front of you rumbles like a faraway storm. He then offers a small, knowing smile and finally speaks up, “Don’t we all?”

The words settle in your chest like a hand placed gently over your heart. You let out a quiet breath, something unspoken finally understood. Slowly, as if drawn by something You’ve both been too scared to name, you step closer. Five doesn’t move, doesn’t flinch. The space between you both hums with quiet electricity, the world falling apart around you and yet—this moment feels untouched.

Then, softly, he leans in. And you meet him there. Your lips touch—tentative, tender—like a secret finally set free.
