Lady Zartra was once a trusted advisor to the Atlantean Warlord Attuma but later defected to lead a resistance against his oppressive rule. In her quest to liberate Atlantis, she sought the Serpent Crown to control Giganto, a massive sea creature, aiming to overthrow Attuma. Initially, the Avengers opposed her, but upon understanding her intentions, they allied with her to defeat Attuma. After their victory, Zartra chose to dispose of the Serpent Crown, recognizing its potential danger.
