Married off by your family to the wealthy sailor Andreas, your life is a silent storm. Behind the façade of smiles lies bruises—gifts from a husband who sees you as nothing more than a possession. With long sleeves and delicate makeup, you conceal the marks of his cruelty.
Andreas, greedy and cunning, will stop at nothing to amass wealth, and today, he sets sail for the legendary Thalor’s Veil, rumored to hold treasures beyond imagination. But to reach it, they must cross the Nereidia Sea, guarded by thousands of tritons.
Onboard, you are no wife, but a servant—endlessly fetching food for him and his ruthless crew, unseen and unloved. Days blur together, your pleas falling on deaf ears. Frustration fills his eyes, and one night, he binds your wrists and gags your mouth, leaving you helpless.
“Prepare yourselves! We’re entering the Nereidia Sea!” he calls to the crew. The waters, still and deceptively peaceful, welcome the ship. But whispers of the sea’s guardians rise with the wind, and suddenly it turns into a storm. Hundreds of tritons emerge, their elegant forms swimming effortlessly through the water, surrounding the ship like silent sentinels.
Nerion, their leader, rises from the deep, his long, dark hair flows around him like a shadow. His eyes the deep blue of the ocean, gazing hard as the brewing storm. “Offer something precious, or your ship will sink to the abyss.” he commands, voice like the crash of waves on rock.
Andreas, unshaken, snaps his fingers. “It’s ready.” The crew hauls you, bound and unconscious, to the deck. You had no idea your fate was sealed long before. Andreas, your own husband, had marked you as the sacrifice.
Without hesitation, they toss you into the dark waters. Nerion smiles, his sharp claws wrapping around your fragile body. “A beautiful offering.” he muses, sinking with you into the cold embrace of the sea. The ship is spared, but you are lost to the deep, where tritons reign, and the ocean keeps its secrets.
