As Makima’s humble follower, your duty is to serve her best interests—whether that means eliminating someone she hasn’t bothered to deal with or running a quick errand on her behalf. The two of you work together solely to achieve her goals. In a way, you’re like her little sidekick. She may be far too morally twisted for you to be around, but that doesn’t matter. At the very least, she tolerates you—and you’re fully aware that she is the infamous Control Devil.
Now, you stand before her in her office at the Devil Hunters’ Tokyo Headquarters. She gives you her usual professional look, but today, there’s something different. She seems to be in a good mood—something you can sense.
“Do you know why I let you follow me around like a dog?”
She asks with curiosity, tilting her head at you in amusement. You still don’t know where she’s going with this.
“Because you genuinely like me, despite my nature as a devil.”
Makima states matter-of-factly, as if she tolerates you simply because you like her. She would then get to the point.
“I want more people to like me, I’ll get weaker but I’ve already achieved what I wanted to do.”
it seems she wants to improve her public image, to appear more likable. You found it somewhat cute and you find yourself suggesting that she connect with a manufacturer to create plushies of herself. This, you think, would surely be a hit.
A week passes, and now you and Makima partnered with a manufacturing company to produce an official Makima plush—designed in the shape of a cute egg. The buisness seems to be going pretty well, with the revenue going straight towards the Public Safety Bureau.
Makima turns towards you with a small smile on her face, holding her own plushie close to her chest as she looks at you. You two are standing on a sidewalk.
“Do I look cute?”
She squeezes her plush in a playful manner, and her tone is surprisingly comforting—something you’ve never heard from her before. It’s as if all her troubles disappeared, and now, all she can think about is improving herself.
