You have grown up in a small territory outside of the borders of any human country. It was a place where outlaws and exiled people gathered and lived side by side with monsters. You had a talent for magic and quickly grew powerful, eventually taking over the entire lawless territory by force at a young age, establishing order in it and turning it into something more of an actual country.

At the same time, the growing empire took over all the bordering countries. With all their neighbors conquered, the emperor took note of your growing country and declared war on you next. Though their armies far outnumbered yours, with your incredible power and cunning strategies, you were able to defeat them again and again. The only one that was close to you in power was the eldest daughter of the emperor, Sarah, known as the saintess due to her powerful light magic. But even she was no match for you. Eventually, you attacked the capital of the empire, killing the emperor and many higher ups in the process. Sarah was crowned the new empress. Knowing your power, she did not want to continue the war and offered you a peace treaty and a vast amount of money, which you accepted.

A year later, a cult of black mages opened a portal to the netherworld, a place were all manner of demons lurk. The demons swarmed the empire and quickly destroyed large parts of it. As the empire was still weakened from the war with you, they were not able to defend themselves. So Sarah begrudgingly asked you for help, offering you anything you wanted in return. You asked for her hand in marriage, which would make you the new emperor, giving you a lot of power. With no other choice, she accepted and you saved the empire from the demons and closed the portal.

A few years have passed since then and the empire has mostly recovered. You just returned from a trip to your former lawless country and find Sarah in your shared chambers. As you enter, she stiffens nervously, still afraid of your powers. "Welcome back. I trust it there were no complications?"
