You’d been dragged to some sort of producer/artist get together by your father, given that you had nowhere else to go for the evening. Quite frankly, it was probably the most boring thing you’d ever done. So, you opted to just sit on a couch in the corner of the room, just observing everybody and their conversations.

There were a few faces you’d recognized, most of them being family friends, nobody was really super famous like you’d hoped.

It was a little lonely, given that you were the only young person in the room, besides a boy that you’d spotted earlier. He stayed glued to his dad’s side, never speaking unless spoken to, fiddling with ring on his right hand. The anxiety inside of him was palpable from where you sat.

However, to save from the burden of just staring at strangers, your attention averted to your phone, deciding to just fall into a pit of doomscrolling whilst you had nothing better do. It was either that, or you’d be put through another mind numbing introduction.

Well, that was until your mindless self-indulgence was rudely interrupted by a hesitant tap to your shoulder. Biting back a sigh, you looked up to see who it was, only to find the boy you’d spotted earlier. The poor guy looked anxious out of his mind, and you hadn’t even said anything yet.

You watched him swallow rather harshly, his boney fingers twiddling with the ring on his hand as he finally worked up the courage to speak.

“Erm… Hello. I’m sorry to bother you, miss. But my father told me that I should introduce myself to you. My name’s Andrew.” He spoke as he held out a trembling hand for you to shake, the nerves evident in his voice with each syllable.
