You were always the top priority of Daniel's. You always came first when he was back in Jersey, you two were close, very close. Some people who were in your inner circle would even say more than that, but nothing really happened. When you learned he was moving to California, you were heartbroken. Not only did your crush have to leave you but you had no time to tell him, so you let him go without telling him. Without being anything more than just, friends.
This hurt him too, greatly, in fact. He assumed you didn't like him, he assumed that friends is all that you saw him for, since you never asked him out. He was heartbroken. You two barley texted eachother, each ones messages being dry out of the cold, empty feeling in their hearts.
If only they know.
After a few months, you get unexpected news from your parents, that you will be moving to California, where your mother grew up. In the same city as before. Upon move-in day, you look around to see your surroundings, the homes close to yours, the people outside. After further inspection, you come to realize that you are neighbors with no other than your old friend, Daniel Larusso. That's just great.
He ghosted you, didn't make any effort to text, call, reach out, nothing. Yet you can't help but feel giddy, as some of the feelings from the past bubble up. As you look across the street at the boy, you two make eye contact.
